President June Hanes called the meeting to order at 1:06 p.m., with 24 members present and 3 visitors. Visiting our guild today were Beckie Davis' mother Jackie Blackburn, Helene Cox, and Harriette Williams' granddaughter Julia. Sheri Meyers made the motion to approve last month's Minutes, and Lori Camp seconded. The motion passed.
Vice President: Angela Gubler - Angela was absent, so June gave her report. We will be displaying and selling tickets for our raffle quilt at the Nash Farms Fourth of July celebration from 3:00-9:00 on both Friday, July 3, and Sat., July 4. A sign-up sheet was circulated for volunteers to help. Our visitor Helene Cox drew the ticket for the winner of the fat quarter bag that Angela made for our booth at the Geranium Festival. The lucky winner is Lavern Hill. Joyce Alexander, a guild member and winner of the Spiderweb quilt, brought it (with her thanks) and had her picture taken with it. Carole Thorpe gave each member present an envelope containing 24 raffle tickets and a picture of our new ("Wheels") raffle quilt. The price will be $1 for one ticket or $5 for 6 tickets.
On display at today's meeting were the wonderful large banners that Angela had printed for our guild and our upcoming quilt show. These banners are very sturdy and will be useful for years to come. Thanks so much, Angela, for co-ordinating this project!
We're hoping to plan another in-store retreat for either July or August.
Treasurer: Karen Taylor - We currently have $2135.81 in our account, $674.00 of which is proceeds from the sale of the tickets for the 2nd raffle quilt.
Secretary: Kerry DeWolf - We received a warm thank-you note from Nola Love, President of Helping in His Name food pantry, for our guild donation last month. Also, whenever a member changes her email address, please let Kerry know (at kerrydewolf@yahoo.com) so that she can update her records and email you the latest guild information.
Membership: Rita Maggert - Lavonne Timpson, a recently renewed member, is housebound due to her husband's serious illness, but is willing to do what she can to help the guild from home.
Challenge: Sheri Meyers - Sheri has a two-part form for all "Challengers" to fill out about their entry. Remember to hide your project when you bring it to the October meeting!
Sunshine and Shadows: Sheri Meyers - We're happy to see Diane Murphy back with us again after missing many months to care for her husband! Deborah Bruce and Joyce Walden have had health problems in recent weeks. Sheri sent some FQs and a note to Lavonne Timpson. The June birthday honorees selected a FQ from our stash.
Monthly Mini: Carole Thorpe - Today we had two...Pauline Nipper won the tote bag, and Carole won the cat mini quilt.
Old Business: Nancy Stauffer asked those that appliqued hearts from last month's meeting to return them to her. She will sew them into a wallhanging and have a drawing next month for those that participated.
New Business: Our program today will be a "Chinese auction." Sharon Welch asked if we will be having quilt pins for our guild and/or our show. The quilt show committee will take this under consideration.
Sheri moved and Barbara Moss seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 1:35 p.m.
Addendum to Meeting: Next month, we'll have a potluck lunch at noon on Thursday, July 2, followed by our regular meeting. Sheri will bring paper products for the meal. Everyone else should bring a favorite dish to pass.
Respectfully submitted,
Kerry DeWolf, Recording Secretary
